Following the color palette "rule of three", this site employs a comprehensive left-hand navigation menu and features many photos and images throughout. This site was redesigned for the spring 2005 launch of their second boat, the Mary Jemison.

Spezio Property Services, Inc.

This site is written in PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) and utilizes some basic features such as a feedback form and e-mail accounts for every employee. The logo at the top is the same as the company's print media logo, so the site brings continuity. The blue-green theme was used to coincide with the existing colors of the firm.

Men Against Sexual Assault

While trying to achieve a simple look but present very important and robust content, the design team chose very subtle colors and easily readable links and graphics. The center graphics are rollover images and the titlebar serves a dual purpose as both a location bar and a links directory that is repeated on every page.

The Hive: Home of the UR Students' Association

An incredibly complex portal, The Hive includes such features as a poll, a dynamic calendar, a weblog system for posting news items, a three-column layout for maximum use of the page, and national and international news feeds. There is also a meta search system at the bottom of the page, giving the user the choice of twelve different search engines to execute a particular query.

A revision of the site is underway and is slated to include a user login system as well as a more robust calendaring system and integrated weather and forecast information. The colors that were used on this version were chosen because they were clean and easy to read.

The popularity of The Hive has grown steadily since its launch and new and updated features and constantly added to maintain the dynamic nature of the site.

This site illustrates a basic portal layout with a date display, different levels of security, and several interactive subsections. Each area of the site is controlled by an administration system.

Upbeat and Downstairs

This site incorporates several features including a closely integrated database weblog system, current temperature and weather conditions via XML, flexible linking options, and several automations of mundane tasks, like alphabetizing and ordering by date.

The overall look of the site is simple and clean, taking advantage of white-on-black design aspects and visual aides, like the purple and blue accent colors. A site like this one is commonly requested when there is a lot of dynamic data to present in a confined area.
